If your child turns 5 years old before 1st May 2017
At Charles Campbell College children enrolled for Reception begin their transition to school in Term 4. Transition takes place over six weeks and in that time there are many opportunities for parents to connect with the school. We have an informal morning tea, to share and answer questions, workshops about reading, time in class with your child and the reception teacher and a family picnic. During the six weeks we have the opportunity to learn about the gifts and talents that your child brings to learning.
In South Australia, public primary schools have one intake date, this means:
- If your child turns five years before 1 May they can start primary school the first day of term 1 of that year.
- If your child turns five on or after 1 May they can start primary school the first day of term 1 of the following year.
Same First Day Policy. The one intake date brings South Australia into line with other states and means every child has four terms of pre-schooling and reception before starting the rest of their schooling.
Your child must be at school by their sixth birthday – this is compulsory school starting age.
To ensure that you have a place please contact the school by either:
- Calling in to our Reception office located prominently at 3 Campbell Road Paradise on the eastern side of the road, or
- Phoning the school for an enrolment appointment with the Head of the Junior School on 8165 4700.
