It was a hot summer’s day on Friday 9th March, but that didn’t dampen spirits for the annual CCC R-12 sports day! The R-6 students undertook a mix of athletic and challenge events on the north oval, while the 7-12 students competed on the south oval in a combination of track, field, and novelty events. Brilliant efforts were displayed throughout the numerous events, particularly in some trying conditions at times, and great to see many students getting involved and participating in different events to help boost the points total for their house colour. The Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow houses were supported with some fantastic costumes and colours as students showed their pride and represented their team in a positive light! A big thank you to staff and students who were onsite at 7am to help set up for the day’s proceedings to ensure everything was organised and set to kick off on time. Thanks also to everyone who helped on the various stalls throughout the day to supply students and parents with food, cakes, and drinks, as well as henna art tattoos. Through these endeavours students and teachers were able to raise money to help benefit the school sport undertaken at CCC, along with raising money for Amnesty International to help support human rights. Numerous parents and caregivers helped contribute to the atmosphere of the day by coming along, cheering and supporting the students involved in the day!
Congratulations to
Gul Zehra: U15 Girls Shot Put – 9.39m for breaking a school record! Thanks to all staff and students for their efforts on the day, making it an enjoyable and entertaining experience in spite of the warmer weather. A great effort by the Green house team who took out the double as the successful house team in both the junior and senior competitions! Congratulations in particular to those students who were successful in winning their events on the day. The Secondary School Track and Field Champs team will be selected from the sports day results and students will be notified accordingly. Our secondary school team will compete on Thursday April 5th at SANTOS stadium, while the junior school team will compete in the SAPSASA Athletics Primary Championships which will occur during Term 3. Both these days will cater for those parents/caregivers who wish to come down to support their children. We look forward to a bigger and better sports day in 2019, and to continue the rich sporting traditions here at Charles Campbell College. Mr Jack Hannath Sports Coordinator Comments are closed.
