The weekly Vista sports competition wrapped up on Tuesday (3/7) with the Grand Final taking place after 7 rounds of home and away competition. Charles Campbell was represented by an 8/9 football team and two Open girls netball teams, competing against various schools in the North East zone. Despite stiff competition against some very strong schools, the 8/9 boys’ football team managed to finish in third position – developing and becoming more cohesive as a team over the course of the term, to play some great football. The sportsmanship and competitiveness was inspiring throughout, and leaves us very optimistic for the future of football at CCC. With a strong interest and willingness from the Open girls in years 10, 11, and 12, we had enough numbers to field two teams in the netball competition. Despite some interruptions to the schedules, both teams were able to apply themselves throughout and produce some excellent results. These strong performances lead to a Grand Final berth for the CCC1 team against Modbury High school! Despite experiencing a close loss to Modbury in round 1 of the competition, the girls were determined not to be outdone again, and produced some scintillating netball in a hotly contested match that went back and forth for much of the game. When the final whistle sounded, nothing was separating the two teams, and an ensuing 5 minutes of extra time was played to see if the deadlock could be broken. Some great all-round netball over the entire court saw CCC capitalise on their opportunities and maximise their opportunities with the ball to pull off a stunning win – 47 v 43! Congratulations to Mr Yeend (coach) and the girls – Georgia, Tamieka, Jasmine, Courtney, Emilee, Shanti, and Tayla for their success! A big thanks to Mr Willsmore (coach 8/9 boys football), Ms Kulikovsky (coach CCC2 netball) and Mr Yeend (coach CCC1 netball) for their efforts and contribution to sporting life of Charles Campbell, without their assistance and expertise these competitions would not go ahead. Congratulations as well to all the students involved throughout the competitions for their participation, sportsmanship and enjoyment over the term. We look forward to further student involvement throughout the new vista competitions taking place in term 3! Saturday Netball
The R-6 College students are currently involved in a Saturday morning netball competition being played against various schools throughout the area across a variety of age groups including under 7s, under 9s (x2) and under 11s. There are many students, both boys and girls, involved in these teams and they have competed for a number of weeks now, with an upcoming break heading into the school holidays before re-commencing in term 3. Without their personal commitment to these students, they would not have the opportunity to develop and further their skills while having the fun they do! Keep posted for further updates at the conclusion of the season in term 3! Comments are closed.
