Psychological Therapy

What is psychological therapy and how can it help me?
Psychological therapy is a great way to get help with a mental health problem or get extra support, especially when you’re going through a tough time.
Psychological therapy involves talking about what you’re experiencing, your thoughts, feelings, reactions, beliefs and perspectives.
Talking about these things can help you to better understand yourself, learn new ways of managing emotions, relationships and challenges, get help with a problem you may be facing, and feel better in yourself.

Remember that no one should force you to do therapy – it’s ultimately your choice.

What can therapy help with?
You might like to think about trying therapy if you’re experiencing:
  • Anxiety or excessive nervousness, especially if you’re starting to avoid places, people, or things because they make you too nervous or            overwhelmed
  • Depression or consistently low mood, withdrawing from friends and family, low motivation, loss of interest in hobbies
  • Chronic stress that you’re finding unmanageable and distressing
  • Feeling like life is hopeless, meaningless, that you don’t want to be alive anymore
  • Rapid changes in mood, like being on an emotional rollercoaster
  • Frequent and intense feelings of anger and irritability
  • Relationship issues with family, friends, partners
  • Low self-esteem, constant negative or critical thoughts about yourself.
